Mr. Ian Juntilla's Feature Story

Humility Brings Great Gains!
By: Luzviminda Ubalde

In the cool year ending of 1987, a humble man was born in November 23. Since then, he really longed to gain the highest possible educational attainment his family can have.

This humble man was happy in going to school everyday. Though the distance is quiet very far from his home, he kept his faith stronger with full confidence that he can make it to the top until he graduated in his elementary years.

During summer time, he was striving to save money to be able to continue his studies in high school. At an early age, he worked in the market where he sold goods and wet products. Through that experience, he learned to become independent.

Time has come when he needed to be separated from his family and friends. He was sad but gentleness moved him to make the best out of the difficult situations he faced.

He was a bright man who learned things quickly. His bright minds and gentleness made his teachers happy. He was serious in his studies though many obstacles come in his way. He kept on striving just to survive and win the game of life.

He was financially unstable which caused him to work every Saturday and Sunday in the market. He needed to wake up as early as 3:00 o’clock dawn to work. This was his non-school routine. The situation was very difficult to handle but he was really brave in achieving his goals.

After he graduated in high school, he never planned to go to college anymore but good opportunities came when his teacher encouraged him to take the TESDA scholarship exam and it’s a blessing for he passed the said test.

It was in May 23, 2005 when he landed in Tagum City without knowing where to stay. With this, he decided to ask favor from his neighbor in Tagum City Public Market to work as a laborer who sold banana cues and juice. He slept in their store and suffered patiently. He overcame the coldness of the night for two and a half months. Until his another neighbor saw him and offered a good favor. So, he worked with them in the fish outlet in the said market. He woke up at 3:00 o’clock dawn to sell fish to their costumers and then, went home at 7:30 in the morning to do the house chores and afterwards, he studied his lessons. He attended his classes in the evening at Aces Tagum College with a course of Automotive Technology. This was his routine until he graduated with recognitions.

All these experiences made him stronger and determined to pursue his dreams in life. “Hope and courage are two bright diamonds in the crawl of success,” this guiding principle made him cope all those hardships in his life.

Mr. Ian P. Juntilla, the humble man who is now an Automotive Instructor of Aces Tagum College and at the same time, a second year education student. He is good role model to us as a young person in winning his missions in life.
